HYDERABAD: The last may not have been heard of on the issue of Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan rejecting the nominations of BRS leaders Dr Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana for MLC seats under the Governor quota.

It is learnt that the government could well re-recommend their names, stating that both nominees fit the conditions mebtioned by the Governor. “It is quite possible that this will be route the government will take,” a BRS source said.

“This would most likely require a discussion at a Cabinet meeting which we hoped would be held on Friday but with the Chief Minister being unwell, this could happen at a later date,” the source added.

A senior leaders said Dr Sravan, has a PhD in philosophy, which is the highest academic achievement which means he has a nuanced and thorough understanding of his subject. Satayanarayana has experience in trade union movement which means he strived for labour welfare.

The BRS feels that Raj Bhavan’s rejection of the nominations rests on a narrow definition of special achievements in literature, science, art, cooperative movement and social service. “When the Constitution was written, I am quite certain that Dr B.R. Ambedkar did not have narrow definitions on this issue. Definitions of such terms can change with times,” another BRS leader said.
