Fake ginger garlic-paste unit raided, 1 held

Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) along with Uppal Police raided an adulterated ginger-garlic paste manufacturing unit in Old Ramanthapur and arrested a person. Officials seized tonnes of adulterated garlic paste that was blended with harmful chemicals and preservatives.

SOT Malkajgiri zone and Uppal crime team raided a manufacturing unit operating in Old Ramanthapur and arrested Mohammed Basheer, 25, who is also the owner of the unit.

“Basheer was indulging in illegal preparation of ginger-garlic paste by adding synthetic food colours and other harmful chemicals for softness,” the police said adding that he was preparing the paste in unhygienic conditions to supply in the local markets.

The SOT sleuths handed over Basheer to Uppal police.
