FIR against Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Sasikala Teacher
Nadakkavu police invoked UAPA against Mr Palath for his two provoking speeches made at Karaparamba in Kozhikode in 2014.
KASARGOD: Hosdurg police has registered an FIR against Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Sasikala Teacher on non-bailable charges under IPC 153 A (promoting enmity on the grounds of religion), for inflammatory speeches she made in different places. The case has been taken on a complaint filed by government public prosecutor C. Shukkur. The complainant had provided video and audio CDs of the teacher’s speeches and had alleged that her words were aimed at threatening communal harmony.
“The complainant had given CDs of speeches held in various places in different times. None of them was made in Kasargod. The procedure is that FIR must be initiated for non-bailable offence,” said Hosdurg circle inspector Sunil Kumar C.K.
It was on Mr Shukkur's complaint that the police slapped UAPA on Salafi preacher Shamsuddeen Palath recently.
Nadakkavu police invoked UAPA against Mr Palath for his two provoking speeches made at Karaparamba in Kozhikode in 2014. Available on YouTube, the speeches call true Muslims to stop living amid Kafirs and go to Caliphate to lead a truly Islamic life. “Muslims participating in others festivities like Onam and Christmas are un-Islamic, and a true believer is dutiful to bring others into Islam,” he says.
