Study feasibility of alternative medical systems, exhorts Chinna Jeeyar Swami
‘Consider their effectiveness, don’t toss them out’
Hyderabad: Lauding the efforts of medical professionals in treating patients during the Covid-19 pandemic, spiritual ascetic Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami urged the medical fraternity to try and consider evaluating efficiencies of treatments through alternate medical systems.
Speaking at the two-day annual international conference of pulmonologists, Bronchus 2021, organised by Yashoda Hospitals here on Sunday, Chinna Jeeyar Swami made a reference to ayurveda expert Bonigi Anandaiah, who gained popularity for treating Covid patients with his herbal concoction.
“Let us first try to understand the capabilities of such medicines instead of denying them,” he said, citing the effectiveness of Pranayama. He called for developing an integrated practice of evaluating and testing of immunity-boosting treatments from all forms of alternative medicine.
He underscored the importance of empowering patients with positive thoughts. “Today, man is polluting air, water and cutting trees which no other creature does. The self-destructive nature of man is the root-cause of all the suffering in the world. We finally approach doctors, who are the ‘alter-egos of God.’”
Chinna Jeeyar Swami said pulmonology is the most relevant specialisation in the current times, where “people are suffering from breathlessness despite nature’s bountifulness when it comes to availability of air.”
“Despite advancements across spheres, the pandemic has exposed the fact that our well-being is not entirely in our hands. Doctors world over are not sure whether vaccines are capable of curing the infection,” he added.
