Plea for panel to inquire Jayalalithaa's death

Chennai: A public interest litigation has been filed in the Madras high court to direct the Union government to appoint a commission headed by three retired judges of the Supreme Court, to find out the truth and to inquire into the alleged “mysterious death of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J.Jayalalithaa”, as it was done in the case of national leader Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose pursuant to the direction of the Calcutta high court.

In his petition, advocate P.A.Joseph, also sought an interim direction to the state government, DGP, city police commissioner and the Apollo hospitals to submit all the official and relevant records, reports and documents relating to the alleged mysterious death of the former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa involving several questionable incidents including the episode of sudden hospitalisation of the former Chief Minister, her recovery information, her sudden cardiac death, imprinting her thumb impression on election records, advice to Governor when she was in ventilator, happenings on December 4 and 5 etc till her burial, pending disposal of his petition.

He said in view of contradictions in the incidences happened in the episode of sudden hospitalisation, recovery information, sudden cardiac death, thumb impression and drama happened on December 4 and 5, requires a full fledged inquiry.

As the present issue relates to death of Chief Minister of a State, and the issue was of public importance, it would be appropriate to seek a remedy from the centre by requesting them to appoint a commission of inquiry to inquire and submit a report to the Parliament regarding the mysterious death of the former Chief Minister, he added.
