Huge response for Praja Palana in Warangal, Karimnagar

Warangal/ Karimnagar: Huge number of people of various sections flooded the gram panchayats and municipal offices to submit their applications for the Six Guarantees schemes by the Congress government as part of the Praja Palana programme,
which started on Thursday in the erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts.

The collectors, along with public representatives, launched the outreach programme at 8 am in the districts where the revenue officials set up centres in villages and municipalities to receive the applications from the people.

However, many of the applicants were seen enquiring with the officials whether the family members should apply for the eligible schemes using one single form or separately.

A married woman from Kumarpally of Hanamkonda told Deccan Chronicle that she and her husband did not have any government job and a house. They applied for Maha Lakshmi, Indiramma House and Gruha Jyothi schemes and worried whether the government would consider her for only one scheme or all three she applied for.

An auto-rickshaw driver said that he did not get a ration card though he applied for it in the previous regime. But, the Congress government has asked the applicants to mention ration card number for schemes. “How, can I
give furnish the details? If they reject me for not having a ration card,  whom should I approach? The government should have taken up this outreach programme after issuing ration cards to those who don’t have, he observed.

Meanwhile, Sudhakar, a Telangana activist from Gudibandal, who applied for Indiramma House, said that several statehood fighters faced a lot of hardships. “The BRS government never cared for us. I am happy that at least
the newly formed Congress government is recognizing us and the sacrifices of martyrs,” he said.

An elderly woman, Sarojanamma, said that she had been running pillar to post with documents to get my monthly pension sanctioned. Even some BRS leaders took money for the same but to no avail. But, now, she applied for the
Cheyutha scheme and she expressed confidence that she would get the pension this time under Indiramma Rajyam by the Congress government.

However, an unemployed youngster alleged that the BRS government fooled the people in the name of comprehensive household survey and now the Congress government was doing the same with Praja Palana. He said it was pointless with the change in governments if they did not provide employment opportunities and recruitments for the unemployed, he questioned.
