Srikanth Reddy takes charge as SUV Vice- chancellor
Tirupati: Dr V. Srikanth Reddy took charge as vice-chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) in Tirupati on Thursday. He was appointed by the government through a gazette notification issued on Wednesday, granting him a three-year term.
After assuming office, Dr Srikanth Reddy paid tribute to the idols of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu and Govindarajulu Naidu.
He received congratulations on his appointment from former SVU vice-chancellor Acharya Prabhakara Rao, Sri Padmavathi Mahila University Acharya Bharti vice-chancellor, and SVU registrar Acharya Rajani.
Srikanth Reddy has more than three decades of experience in academia. He joined SVU in 1992 as an assistant professor in the Psychology department.
Over the years, he was promoted to associate professor and head of the department. He also served as the Public Relations officer of Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya.
As the dean of academic affairs at SVU, Srikanth Reddy handled major administrative responsibilities. He later served as the vice principal and then principal of Sri Venkateswara Science College. From 2021 to 2022, he
was the rector at SVU before retiring in December 2022. Most recently, he was a member of the State Higher Education Regulatory Monitoring Commission.
With an illustrious research background, Srikanth Reddy has guided over 16 PhD scholars and 13 MPhil students. Five students have also completed post-doctoral fellowships under him. He has 38 research publications to his
name and has edited two books. Srikanth Reddy has been honoured with several awards, including the Dr D.P. Basu Medal, Ugadi Puraskaram State Award, and Andhra Pradesh State Best Teacher Award.
