CISF being modernised on lines of BSF: Kiren Rijiju

The minister also witnessed a splendid parade to mark the entry of the lady trainees into the CISF.

Vellore: Union minister of State for Home, Mr. Kiren Rijiju said on Sunday that the Centre was modernising the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with the aid of state-of-art technology and equipment on the lines of the Border Security Force (BSF)’.

Speaking to the media after presiding over the passing out ceremony of 789 lady constables of the CISF at its Regional Training Centre (RTC) at Arakkonam in Vellore district, Mr. Rijiju said the successful completion of the CISF training of the lady constables showed the government’s commitment to “women’s empowerment”. There was need for providing 33 per cent reservation for women in all government sectors, he said.

The minister said the Centre has directed that CISF personnel be deployed for security in all the airports in the country, adding, the Government of India was also ready to dispatch CISF contingents for security duty should any State government seek their assistance for the purpose.

Mr. Rijiju said that cross-border infiltration of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Bhutan and Pakistan into the country has been kept under check during the last four years, adding, this was a “significant achievement” of the BJP government in the last four years.

Earlier, Mr. Rijiju, who handed over the completion certificates to the CISF lady constables (40th batch of the second battalion) and prizes to the toppers, said they would be deployed in all key Central government installations including airports, ports, Parliament building, space and nuclear power installations, various branches of the Reserve Bank of India and in Metro Rail projects also.

The minister also witnessed a splendid parade to mark the entry of the lady trainees into the CISF. During the training the women constable trainees were taught, among others, human rights, gender sensitization, and anti-terror operations. Special attention was given on improvement of soft skills, in line with CISF’s basic principle, “polite but firm on duty”.

Mr. Rijiju said the effective utilization of technology by the CISF at airports and metros, “is not only improving security but also providing passenger satisfaction.”

The chief guest also witnessed on the occasion various demonstrations of ‘dare devil acts’ by the lady constable trainees, showing the quality of training imparted to them. The spectators were awe struck to witness real life bike stunts performed by the fearless young ladies. Shri. Alok Kumar Pateria, IPS, ADG, CISF, welcomed the chief guest and read out the course report.
