Kottayam district to be made woman-friendly

A sum of Rs 12.11 crore was allotted for SC/ST welfare.

Present government commitments had reached to about Rs 40,000 crore by way of pending bills, subsidies, contribution to CSS and others.

Kottayam: The Kottayam district panchayat  plans to make it  woman-friendly and allotted Rs 5 crore  for the purpose in the budget  presented by vice-president Mary Sebastian  for  2017-18 on Tuesday. The  budget  with  an income of Rs 280.73 crore  and  expenditure of  Rs 276.93 crore also earmarked Rs 5.42 crore  for paddy cultivation  and organic farming, Rs 2.06 crore for  dairy development, Rs 83 lakh  for animal husbandry  and Rs 15 lakh for the fisheries sector.   A sum of Rs 12.11 crore was allotted for  SC/ST welfare,   Rs 3.52 crore  for drinking water projects and Rs 1 crore  for soil and water conservation activities.
