HYDERABAD: Justice Khaja Sarath of Telangana High Court on Saturday issued interim orders suspending the April 19 resolutions passed during the 55th meeting of the executive council of Telangana university. Chaired by Vakati Karuna, secretary of higher education, the EC meeting decided to constitute a committee to verify the unilateral 175 appointments in the last two years made by the then vice-chancellor Ravinder Gupta.

Apparently, even appointment letters were not issued to them but they have been drawing salaries at the instance of the vice-chancellor.

A new registrar, Prof Yadagiri has been re-appointed by the executive council to look into the allegations against Gupta.

Although there is a rule to hold a meeting once in three months, it has not been held for over a year and a half.

Challenging EC meeting resolutions, vice-chancellor D. Ravinder approached the High Court that the resolutions during EC meetings were encroachment into the rights and duties of the vice-chancellor as provided in Section 11, 12 and 13 of the Telangana Universities Act 1991.
