LLB issue raised in Kerala Assembly
The Education Minister had sought the explanation of the MG University in this regard.
KOCHI: The issue of non-recognition to five year BA Criminology LLB Honours course at Ernakulam Government Law College under MG University by the Bar Council of India (BCI) found its mention in the Assembly on Tuesday with members Hibi Eden and M Swaraj raising it seeking a reply from the Law Minister.
They said that the fate of nearly thousand students was in peril as they are not able to enroll as lawyers after passing the course. Law Minister A K Balan replied that the issue has come to his attention and steps will be taken to resolve it with the intervention of Governor who is the Chancellor of the varsity.
He said that the crisis arose as the MG University conducted the course without conforming to the syllabus prescribed by the BCI and without UGC recognition. Earlier following a complaint lodged by the SFI union office-bearers at the Law College, the Education Minister had sought the explanation of the MG University in this regard.
