Kozhikode: It was a whole lot of effort put in by Naveen Prasad Alex, 11th standard student of Silver Hills Public School, Kozhikode that helped him get permanent membership in The Junior Academy, which is under the New York Academy of Science. The New York Academy of Science known as the oldest scientific society in the United States has featured thinkers and innovators from all walks of life, including U.S. Presidents Jefferson and Monroe, Thomas Edison, Charles Darwin, Margaret Mead, and many more, and from now on, Naveen will also be part of it.
Naveen was already in the news three years ago for being one of the youngest researchers from the country. His research on butterflies was well talked about during the 26th edition of the Kerala Science Congress being organized at Kerala Agriculture and Veterinary University (KVASU) at Pookkodu. Speaking about the membership, Naveen said, “The Junior Academy gives lifelong access to exclusive educational opportunities and a remarkable global STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math) network through Launchpad, a virtual collaboration platform. Students like me develop advanced research, innovation and collaboration skills with the best- in- class learning resources and leverage these skills to compete in challenges sponsored by the industry- leading companies. For the last one year.”
Naveen is among the 780 students selected from 51 countries for this membership. On July 19, Naveen is flying to New York in order to attend the Global STEM Alliance Summit organized by the Junior Academy. Naveen is also excited to release his first book, which is his research on Butterflies and Bio- diversity.
