PC George cautions over judicial activism, faults CM Pinarayi Vijayan's stand
PC George criticised the stand taken by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the issue and said that it reflected partiality.
KOLLAM: Preventing media from entering the court will lead to judicial activism which might result in even the judges getting corrupted, opined legislator P.C. George here on Thursday. He criticised the stand taken by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the issue and said that it reflected partiality.
“It does not befit a Chief Minister to go and have discussions with the lawyers in their forte. He made a comment that mediapersons need not go to the court which is an illegal intervention in the job of mediapersons. The High Court should solve the issue for the benefit of democracy,” he added. He was speaking to mediapersons here.
Praising the appointment of Gita Gopinath as the financial adviser to the Chief Minister, Mr George said the UDF which appointed Shafi Mather as their financial adviser had no right to criticise the move by the LDF government in appointing Ms Gita, who is a well-reputed financial expert. “The Communist government should follow practical economics other than economics based on Communist ideologies which might lead the state to utter poverty,” Mr George said.
