CPM suspends violent workers
At a press conference, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the attack on party office could not be justified.
THIRUVANANTHAPRUAM: CPM has suspended Thiruvananthapuram corporation councillor I. P. Binu and three other CPM workers in connection with attack on BJP state committee office at Kunnukuzhy on Thursday night. The CPM was forced to act against Mr Binu and other workers after CCTV camera footage proved their involvement in the incident beyond any doubt. Apart from Mr Binu, the other workers who have been suspended are SFI district president Pradhin Sath Krishna, Sukesh and Jerin.
At a press conference, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the attack on party office could not be justified. “The CPM workers have been suspended pending internal probe of the party,” he said. The CPM leader said Binu’s house was attacked by BJP-RSS goons in which his family members including daughter had sustained injuries. The attack on the councillor’s had led to the BJP office incident. “Whatever may be the provocation, the CPM workers should maintain maximum restraint. It is not our culture to retaliate in the same fashion,” he said.
