THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP spokesperson M.T. Ramesh has claimed that the attackers of party office had failed to storm the office though they managed to vandalise vehicles. He rapped the  police for their failure to thwart the attack and find the suspects behind the earlier attacks on the same office. “Last time,  the attackers came just after Kummanam left. This time, he was in the office, recovering from health issues. The attackers  tried to storm in through the front door. However, it was closed with strong bolts. The attack was  targeted at our state leader,”  Mr  Ramesh told reporters.

CPM district leader Anavoor Nagappan condemned the attack and suspended its  councillor named in the violence. “The skirmishes in the district included retaliation (from CPM workers). However, we do not support violence,” he said. The CPM leadership claimed that the attacks were aimed at deflecting public attention from the medical college scam  in which Mr Ramesh’s name had also come up. “I appeal to all workers to observe restraint and peace without getting agitated by the attacks from the Sangh Parivar,” said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who visited  the house of his son Bineesh Kodiyeri,  which also was attacked.
