We aim more: Dr K Mohammed Basheer
The present status of varsity is the hard work and efforts by the selfless service of various stakeholders.
In a University’s history, 50 year is not a big time period. However during these five decade, the achievements we made are very big. Calicut has won 57th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among over 800 varsities. Among all higher education institutions, we also got 93rd position. It is the collective efforts from students, teachers, officials, parents, retired staff and other stakeholders we were able to achieve this. Feather on this hat is the fact that Calicut is the highest ranked among universities in the state in NAAC grading with A-grade with 3.13 CGPA.
Calicut holds the record of implementing credit semester system among universities in Kerala. Institute of Tribal Studies and Research (ITSR), in Wayanad, Lifelong learning department aimed at empowering women, Health centre which also extend service to public, Community disability management and rehabilitation programmed etc are some of the specialities of the varsity.
As part of the golden jubilee, we are organising a wide range of projects and programmes including a central instrumentation facility (CIF) equipped with high value sophisticated instruments, constructing 250 houses for homeless people by NSS, lecture series by eminent personalities including Nobel laureates. The motto of University is Nimaya Karmana Shree- Prosperity will be produced by pure action. The present status of varsity is the hard work and efforts by the selfless service of various stakeholders. We request the support of people from walks of life to take university to greater heights”
