Kerala State Road Transport Corporation runs special services

As many as 32 services were operated from Ernakulam, Aluva and Ankamali depots to Kozhikode and Kasargod.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operated many special services from 3.30 am on Sunday to clear the extra rush of passengers stranded at Karukutty station. Some 43 shuttle services were run from Karukutty to the nearby stations for helping long distance passengers to catch trains to their destinations. KSRTC also operated 16 additional services, both AC and non-AC from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Cherthala depots to Thrissur for the benefit of passengers.

The KSRTC diverted 26 services which were operating between Thrissur and Ankamali via Karukutty railway station for the benefit of passengers stranded in the station. As many as 32 services were operated from Ernakulam, Aluva and Ankamali depots to Kozhikode and Kasargod. The KSRTC operated 42 additional services from Thrissur, Chalakudi, Puthukad and Palakkad units to Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram.

As many as five buses were permanently stationed at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur stations for operating in case of emergencies. Moreover, the corporation had given a directive to all depots to be prepared for operating additional service in the event of demand. Transport minister A. K. Saseendran said directions had been issued to all depots to run more services. “If needed executive directors and zonal managers have been asked to take action,” the minister said.
