Three killed in accidents in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: The driver of a private bus was killed when a bus lost control and rammed into a shop in Thuneri, near Nadapuram on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ranjith Mundakuutiyil (25), Thottilpalam. The bus, going from Thottilpalam to Thalassery, lost control near Juma Masjid, Thuneri but the driver turned the bus to the right side thus avoiding a collision with any other vehicles. As a result, the passengers escaped unhurt. But Ranjith was fatally wounded when the bus hit a cement shop.  Though he was taken to a private hospital in Chokli, he could not be saved.

Meanwhile, a mother and daughter were hit by a train, when they were crossing the underbridge in Mukkali. Sareena (39), Ayisha Manzil, Nellachery, Kunnummal and daughter Thasnima (18), were travelling towards Mukkali. Since the underbridge was filled with rainwater, both of them were walking on the tracks and were mowed down by the Happa-Tirunelveli express.
