Proposal to raze Sishu Vihar walls for road upsets activists

Hyderabad: Three compound walls of Sishu Graha and office of the women and child welfare department are proposed to be removed to make way for a common road for the residents of Madhuranagar that will be connected to Ameerpet.

However, the women and child welfare department has objected to this proposal stating that it will put the lives of small children at risk and that the government buildings need to have their own compound walls.

The proposal, which was sent to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, is being pushed forward and there is pressure being created at all levels so that the promise made by elected representatives can be fulfilled.

Mr Achyuta Rao, president of Bala Hakula Sangam explained, “The new building is close to Madhuranagar Metro Station and that side does not have a compound wall. It has been purposely kept open. If the three adjoining compound walls are also done away with, tiny tots who are housed here will not be able to move out at all. There cannot be a common road from a government property where there are children and a large number of women employees.”

The place has been newly built and houses all the offices of the women and child welfare department. The department officials say that they too have objected to the proposal of laying a common road. For this reason only stones have been laid out on the internal road and not been cemented still.

However, there is no road for the huge property which houses seven government buildings. The Madhuranagar area presently has four roads that connect it to Ameerpet.

The road from the government side will help people access the main road from the housing colonies which are located behind the government buildings.

Meanwhile, a complaint was also sent to the office of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, urging him not to accord permission for a common road through a government property.
