Tamil Nadu CM announces Deepavali bonus for state PSU workers
The bonus would be the same for even the workers of loss-making PSUs, but the gratuity would be 1.67 per cent for the workers under the same category.
Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced Deepavali bonus and gratuity for the class C and D workers of public sector units under the state government’s control.
The amount of bonus would range from Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800 and a total of 3,67,887 workers would benefit from the measure, which would cost Rs 476.71 crore for the state exchequer.
In a statement here, Jayalalithaa announced 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent gratuity to all the C and D group workers of profit-making public sector units under the state government. The bonus would be the same for even the workers of loss-making PSUs, but the gratuity would be 1.67 per cent for the workers under the same category.
The 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 gratuity would be applicable for the workers of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, government transport corporations and Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation.
For the workers of Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Chennai metrowater board, the bonus of 8.33 per cent would be given and the gratuity would be 1.67 per cent.
The bonus and gratuity for the state government workers in rubber corporation, horticulture, tea estate, co-operative and public sugar mills, milk manufacturing co-operatives would as per the profit and losses made by each organisations, she said and added that the same would be applicable for Tamil Nadu Co-operative Housing Society. The employees of Tamil Nadu Textbook Society would be getting 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 gratuity.
The contract workers of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board would be given Rs 4,000 as bonus and similar employees in Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and district co-operative societies would be given Rs 3,000 as bonus. The bonus amount for contract workers of Primary Co-operative societies would be Rs 2,400.
