AP Governor, Jagan condole M.S. Swaminathan's death
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy have condoled the death of eminent agriculture scientist M.S. Swaminathan in Chennai on Thursday.
In a statement from Raj Bhavan here, the Governor underlined that Swaminathan was a world-renowned agronomist, plant geneticist, administrator, humanitarian and a recipient of Padma Vibhushan Award. As Father of Green Revolution in India, he introduced high-yielding varieties of wheat and rice, Abdul Nazeer pointed out.
In his message, Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed out that Swaminathan’s verdant vision changed the rural landscape in the country. He recalled how his contribution to agriculture made India strong in food production. “His memory will live in the lush fields of India forever,” the CM remarked.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said he is saddened over Swaminathan’s demise, who pioneered the Green Revolution. “I will pray to Lord Parameswara that his soul rests in peace,” he stated.
