Kozhikode: Yatra takes design' message to public
Members of Institute of Indian Interior Designers are crisscrossing the nation in three Nano cars.
KOZHIKODE: ‘Design Yatra’, a touring initiative of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), a national body of architects, which is crisscrossing the nation in three Nano cars creating awareness among the common man on the need for design in construction, will reach the state on Saturday. The rally that started from Indore on February 20, will cover 29 cities across the country by next February. The total distance covered will be 15,000 kms in three Nano cars.
Noted architect Babu Cherian who is the chairman of the Kerala chapter of IIID told DC that the rally is aimed at inspiring people to design houses, schools, hospitals and public places in such a way that they present local culture, consider convenience of people and save the environment. In connection with the rally, competitions, heritage walks, talk shows and interaction sessions with students have been scheduled for three days in the city starting from Saturday. The Yatra cars will be parked at important locations, so that the public can learn more about designing.
