Malappuram: The police investigating the murder of 32-year-old P. Faisal in Kodinhi has identified members of the gang who executed the plot. Police sources said three of them including a senior RSS leader have been identified and are on police radar for the past few days. “The probe found Madathil Narayanan Kutty who was the prime accused in Yasir murder case of 1998, is one of the key players in the execution of the murder plot,” they said. An attempt to catch him also went futile as he fled from the hideout.

Mr Narayanan is the Tirur Jilla Karyavahak of RSS convicted by the High Court in 2009 for killing neo-convert Aruparakkal Yasir. Mr Faisal, who converted in May, was also murdered the same way Mr Yasir was killed in 1998. The Supreme Court had acquitted all the accused in the case including Narayanan in July this year. The investigators are handling the case with utmost care to corner the gang because the prosecution failure in the Yasir case had led to the acquittal of the accused convicted by the High Court.

It seems to have encouraged the RSS to carry out similar murder months after the apex court delivered its final verdict. Mr Yasir, who was a priest in a local temple before embracing Islam in 1990, was killed by an RSS gang on August in 1998 as retaliation for his attempts at more conversions. Meanwhile, the eight men arrested on Sunday in connection with the Faisal murder were produced before Perinthalmanna Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday and remanded for 14 days.
