Lammasingi coldest at 3.5º Celsius

Visakhapatnam: With the mercury dipping to around 3.5ºC, Lammasingi, Minumuluru and a few areas in Vizag Agency on Monday recorded the lowest temperature of the season. Early morning dense fog affected vehicular traffic and locals were forced to stay indoors. Even before the full onset of winter, cold weather conditions are prevailing in many parts of Vizag Agency.

Officials of the Regional Agricultural Research Station at Chintapalle calculated the temperature of Lammasingi and surrounding areas by deducting 2ºC to 2.5ºC from the temperature of Chintapalle. On Monday Chintapalle’s temperature dropped to 5.5ºC. RARS officials said that Chintapalle was located about 850 metres above sea level and Lammasingi and Minumuluru were at 950 metres.  As Lammasingi was higher it was estimated to be 2.5ºC colder than Chintapalle.
