Calicut University plans mail ID to help alumni keep in touch
The varsity will also open an account on the server exclusively for email accounts of students.
Kozhikode: Soon the students of Calicut University can boast of having unique official email account.
The largest university in the state in students’ intake and area jurisdiction is planning to provide all students with the facility to communicate better with them and keep in touch with alumni in future. Unlike official mailing accounts provided by many other institutions for students, this email can be operated from anywhere, and they can use it, even after they have passed out. The varsity will also open an account on the server exclusively for email accounts of students.
“By introducing the software, we are looking to cover two things. It will help to disseminate the information regarding exams, notifications, programmes, varsity news alerts and also use for accessing the online library facility. Also, since the account will not expire after a student passes out, it can serve as a connecting link between students and university in future,” said CUCC director V.T. Madhu.
“Presently, when a student passes out, no further communication happens. Email account would help to trace them and even taking their help for the development of the institution in future.”
The email accounts can also connect with the mobile app the varsity is developing. It is planning to launch the email account facility along with the new software developed by the CUCC to reduce time presently taken for preparing certificates.
The software also has additional security features which would prevent any inside person from generating a fake certificate using the authentic software. The new software will come into use from January and is also expected to reduce the use of printout papers taken for crosschecking marks as the entire process would be online.
