HYDERABAD: Over 1,000 alumni of Osmania University (OU) are expected to participate in the Osmania Global Alumni Meet 2023 on January 3 and 4, university Vice Chancellor Prof. Dandeboina Ravinder announced on Thursday.

The event will be held at Tagore Stadium on the OU campus. Prof. Ravinder called upon the alumni to participate in the meet. He said alumni meets were usually held department-wise, and this was the first time the university was hosting a combined event.

The Vice-Chancellor said the Osmania Foundation had been established under a Section 8 company to involve the alumni in matters of comprehensive development. It was formed based on suggestions made by the alumni committees settled abroad during the Vice Chancellor’s US tour earlier this year.

Certain regulations had made it difficult for former students to donate to their alma mater, and the foundation was formed to remove the obstacles in receiving donations from abroad.

OU alumni who are interested in participating in the meet should register online, while spot reservations are also provided. Sixteen committees were working to engage distinguished alumni, retired vice-chancellors, academics, politicians, and other alumni who are playing key roles in the public and private sectors.

The Global Alumni Meet (GAM) will begin on January 3 with a lunch session. There will be several panel discussions with eminent alumni on the development of OU and other topics.

On January 4, the second day of the meet, the alumni will visit their respective departments and have lunch in the hostels so that they can interact with faculty and students. The OU campus and its affiliated colleges have been beautified for the event.
