Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Beach Road will soon be dotted with police kiosks to help tourists, both domestic as well as foreign. Kiosks are being readied and in all probability they will start functioning from January 1 2023. “The tourist policing system is in practice in Goa and Rajasthan where tourist footfall is high and it is helping visitors,’’ commissioner of police Ch. Srikanth said.

He said the city has been witnessing an increase in foreign tourists, and will host global events such as G20 meetings and Global Tech Summit 2023, during which visitors from several countries are expected to participate. In many cases, foreigners find it difficult to report theft of passports, loss of valuables and cheating by various agencies. These kiosks, to be manned by two personnel, will help tourists report any case and speed up the recovery, the CP added. The kiosks would be managed with minimum budgetary support and manpower, he said.
