YSRC in Kadiri Witnesses Mass Resignations
Anatapur: MPPs, municipal councillors and other public representatives in Kadiri assembly segment have submitted mass resignations demanding that YSRC high command change its decision of fielding a non-local candidate from the constituency.
The resignations have come after ruling party high command reportedly informed sitting MLA Dr. Sidda Reddy that he will not be re-nominated from the Kadiri constituency.
Dr. Sidda Reddy has reportedly been told that as part of strategy, the seat is being allotted to minorities, who have a dominant presence in the Kadiri constituency of the Rayalaseema region. Further, the sitting MLA has been asked to support the new candidate Maqbul, a travel agency owner from Bengaluru, who is a native of Kadiri.
Following this decision of the YSRC high command, protests have started and are continuing to build up. Party workers are questioning how a person who is not aware of local issues, who is busy in business in the Karnataka capital, can be fielded.
A large number of leaders – MPPs and MPTC members from all mandals in Kadiri constituency and municipal councillors of Kadiri municipality – have tendered their resignations in protest. They want Dr. Sidda Reddy to be continued as the YSRC candidate from Kadiri.
Several party cadres staged a protest at the YSR statue demanding that the non-local candidate be replaced with the sitting legislator.
