Hyderabad: 3 killed as car hits bike, six injured

Srinivas lost control car and hit a bike. The bike plunged down the bridge along with the car, says additional Inspector K. Sathaiah

Hyderabad: Three persons were killed in a road accident in Alwal on Monday midnight. Police said the mishap occurred when Kistaiah Chary younger son, who was driving their car, lost control and hit a bike. The bike and the car plunged down a bridge. Six passengers in the car suffered serious injuries. Kistaiah Chary, his granddaughter Kamalini and the biker, Shakti Singh, died.

Police said that C. Kistaiah Chary 70, a goldsmith, stayed with his family in Karmanghat. His elder daughter stays at Risala Bazaar. Her son, K. Madan Mohan Chary, was getting married on Wednesday. On Monday evening, Kistaiah Chary and his family went to Risala Bazaar to make arrangements for the marriage.

Late in the night they started back home with Srinivas at the wheel. Srinivas’s wife, Swapna, elder son Jagan Mohan’s children Kamalini, 8, Sudhanshu and two daughters of Srinivas and another grandson, Saikiran, were in the car. His elder son Jagan Mohan and his wife Kausalya, were following the car on their bike.

“When they reached the railway overbridge at Alwal, Srinivas lost control car and hit a bike. The bike plunged down the bridge along with the car,” Bolarum additional Inspector K. Sathaiah said. Kistaiah Chary and Kamalini who were in the front seat died on the spot. 

Shakthi Singh, who was riding the bike, was also killed on the spot. Srinivas fractured his right hand and suffered fractures on other parts of the body. Other passengers suffered minor injuries and are said to be out of danger. A case for causing death due to negligence was registered.

Accident shattered dreams

Shakti Singh Gour, 20, who died in the accident on Monday night, was a second year degree student at Bhavan's degree college. He had gone to help his friends prepare for an exam. He met with the accident when he came out at night to buy food. His friends said that Shakthi was a good cricketer.

The other victim, Kistaiah Chary, was planning to attend in his grandson Madan Mohan Chary’s marriage on Wednesday.  The accident plunged the family into grief.
