Workers escape unhurt after part of Jamia Masjid ceiling collapses

Hyderabad: Construction workers at Jamia Masjid in Afzalgunj had a miraculous escape when a portion of the ceiling collapsed inside the mosque premises.

According to Imam Khateeb, the caretaker, 12 persons were busy with repair works near ‘vazukhana’ ahead of Ranzan. The mosque is in a deplorable condition. The incident happened after the 'magrib' prayers and all persons had left.

Meanwhile, the imam thanked AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, at whose behest the state government sanctioned ₹1.27 crore for restoration of the masjid.
