CM Pinarayi Vijayan urges police to take unbiased stand

Kochi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday urged police officers to take an unbiased stand while dealing with cases on political or communal clashes. Mr Vijayan addressed a closed-door meeting of senior officials under the Kochi Range Inspector General of Police. Raman Srivasthava, adviser to the Chief Minister on police, State Police Chief Loknatah Behra, Intelligence ADGP B.S. Mohammed Yasin, ADGP B Sandhya, and IG (Kochi range) P Vijayan were among others attended the meet that lasted nearly three hours.
The chief minister also asked the officers to be cautious and ensure due diligence while invoking Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Earlier, DGP Loknath Behra said he was awaiting the state government's direction on replacing him as the State police Chief. “It is the duty of the government to check the technical aspect of the supreme court verdict,” he said.
