Beef doesn't mean cow meat alone, says minister Kadakampally Surendran
Beef included buffalo and ox as well. People in the state consume beef cutting across religious and caste differences, the minister said.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Monday said Sangh Parivar was unleashing a propaganda in the state saying that beef meant only cow meat. In a Facebook post the minister said beef included buffalo and ox as well. People in the state consume beef cutting across religious and caste differences. Taking a dig at BJP leader K Surendran who accused him of hurting the sentiments of people by publicly consuming beef, the minister said; “K Surendran need not be worried. After eating beef roast we do not try to escape saying it was onion curry. Our protest is also in support of people like Surendran who relishes beef.”
The minister said the photographs of cattle slaughter in a Uttar Pradesh market was being posted on social networking sites and passed off as images from Kerala. “This is the latest example of the lies that are being spread by Sangh Parivar and K Surendran in the state with ulterior motive,” he said. Earlier, Surendran demanded a ban on the beef festivals being organised by the Left and Congress led organisations in the state. He said such festivals were creating disenchantment among a large section of society.
