All roads lead to Velagapudi
Villagers from all over capital region flock together at temporary Secretariat.
Velagapudi (Amaravati): The people of Amaravati capital region are on cloud nine with the starting of the temporary Secretariat interim government complex on Wednesday.
The locals of Velagapudi, Mandadam, Uddandarayunipalem and other villages of Amaravati capital region in large numbers attended the inauguration of the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi. The locals gave a warm welcome to the Secretariat employees who came from Hyderabad.
The Amaravati residents who were earlier suspicious about the construction of the new capital are now very much hopeful about swift development of Amaravati. The locals came to the ground floor of the temporary Secretariat with their family members, which filled every inch of space at the Secretariat and the locals queued up to offer bouquets to the ministers, officials and employees.
Tullur ZPTC member B. Narendra Babu said that a majority of the people, mainly farmers of the 29 villages of the Amaravati capital region are very happy with the inauguration of the temporary Secretariat.
He said that the farmers put faith in the government but delay in the starting of the works and further delay due to technical reasons and rains irked the pooled farmers about the establishment of Amaravati.
Claiming that the temporary Secretariat created record by the completion of construction only in 130 days, he said that now the farmers are hopeful about establishment of world-class Amaravati and are felting that their sacrifices would yield good results in the coming days.
Pooled farmers B. Appa Rao and others said that the second phase of employees shifting took extra time. In the first phase, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shifted to Amaravati and started working from his camp office which made them happy, but later non-starter of land clearance, plot distribution and delay in temporary Secretariat construction disappointed them and they lost hopes about Amaravati establishment. They added that now they are happy and hopeful of world-class new capital Amaravati establishment. They further added that now the real development starts in the capital region which would turn the remote villages into towns and cities.
