Days after accusing BRS MLA of sexual harassment, woman entrepreneur attempts suicide
HYDERABAD: Origin Dairy CEO Bodapati Sejal, who lodged a complaint with the National Women Commission (NWC) seeking justice in an incident of sexual harassment by BRS’s Bellamapalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills here on Thursday.
In her complaint with the NWC, she alleged that the MLA was harassing her sexually and the Telangana state police had failed to accept her complaint. Sejal had met BRS MPs in Delhi seeking justice and had staged a protest.
Days after Sejal attempted suicide in the BRS office premises in Delhi, she was found unconscious at Peddamma Talli Temple in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.
Around 1 pm, a passerby noticed her lying on the footpath. On being informed, police visited the place and found Sejal in an unconscious state. She was shifted to a nearby hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Police found sleeping pills and a note in her handbag.
In the letter, Sejal alleged that Telangana state police had failed to accept her complaint against the ruling party MLA while the MPs, who had promised to ensure justice for her, had also failed.
"I have received threats from miscreants for lodging complaints against the MLA,” she says. “She wanted to die peacefully in the Peddamma Talli Temple," police said.
