VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon his Telugu Desam leaders to be alert against irregularities in the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

He was chairing a review meet on verification of electoral rolls at the party headquarters on Thursday.

Naidu asked the leaders to guard against  registration of bogus voters by the YSRC or other parties, elimination of voters favouring TD and non-removal of votes of the deceased.

TD leaders informed Naidu that they had identified 20 lakh bogus votes in the state by taking up a voter verification programme and submitted a representation to the chief electoral officer to set things right.

The TD chief said that though the ruling YSRC was resorting to irregularities, it had a habit of blaming the TD for such acts. He also warned action against the officials who resort to or help in electoral malpractices in the process of summary revision of electoral rolls.

In a separate programme, former MLA from Srikalahasti, S.C.V. Naidu, along with his supporters, joined Telugu Desam party in the presence of the party chief.

In his speech, Naidu claimed credit for developing Hyderabad in a big way. He listed out the failures of the YSRC government on several fronts and wanted the party leaders to work hard to win even the Pulivendula assembly segment in the coming polls.
