HYDERABAD: The CBI, investigating the murder of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, filed a supplementary chargesheet before the CBI court in Hyderabad on Friday, formally naming Kadapa YSRC MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy as Accused No. 8. The court also mentioned the names of M.V. Krishna Reddy, personal assistant to Vivekananda Reddy, and Y. Prakash, son of a cook in the former MP’s house, as suspects.

The CBI had revealed for the first time on June 8, while replying to Kadapa MP Y.S Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskar Reddy’s bail petition, that it had listed the MP as Accused No. 8.

The supplementary chargesheet was filed following the Supreme Court's directive to complete the investigation by June 30, in which the CBI presented evidence and statements against Avinash Reddy and the two other suspects.

The CBI clarified that this was not the final chargesheet which would be filed at a later stage.

The CBI said that the result of the ‘Ninhydrin test’ conducted on the letter written by Vivekananda Reddy to check for fingerprints was pending. The CBI stated that further inquiry was required to determine how the money was acquired to pay the accused and where it was kept.

The CBI court extended the remand of the six accused until July 14. Among the eight accused, Avinash Reddy has secured anticipatory bail from the Telangana State High Court while Sk Dastagiri, has become an approver.
