Narippil road to be first on repair list
The residents here have lost count of the number of years it has been like this.
Thiruvananthapuram: One of the first issues that BJP councillor Asha Nath G.S. has promised to work on is the repair of Narippil Road. The road between Viswambharan Road and Kaimanam has been lying in shambles. The residents here have lost count of the number of years it has been like this. It is certainly more than three years, a resident said.
Corporation officials said that there are 20 spillover projects in Nemom zonal office, from last year, and none of those are related to repairing Narippil. The project can be included in the next annual plan, if the local councillor pushes for it. After it gets approved by the works committee and the council, the engineering section can start tender works.
K. Chandran, Asha’s uncle whose demise necessitated the bypoll, might not have got the time to solve this problem. Ms Asha said that she is still studying the details of the status of the project. “We are working towards getting O. Rajagopal MLA’s funds for the project,” she added.
The Corporation council has to give a NoC to get MLA fundscan be used in this project. However, simply repairing the roads will not be a long-term solution, says Corporation officials. “A drainage needs to be created. Otherwise, there will still be issues of waterlogging and the road will go back to its bad condition,” says an official.
