Speeding Sports Bike Kills Two Women Morning Walkers

HYDERABAD: A techie riding a 900cc sportbike reportedly at breakneck speed rammed into two women who were crossing the road near Cantonment Park killing them on the spot on Sunday. According to Bolaram police, the bike was spotted in two CCTV cameras, one at Sikh Village and another at Alwal. going at very high speed shortly before it hit the women. There was no CCTV camera at the accident spot.

On July 4, a teen had lost control over his speeding car and rammed into a mother and daughter who were out on a morning walk, killing them on the spot, and leaving one person injured.

The victims, two close friends, were identified as P. Radhika,  59, and Polam Balamani Yadav, 49. The bike rider Aditya P. Nair, 32, fell unconscious and was hospitalised with multiple injuries including a fractured hand. He was not arrested due to his condition, police said. No registration number plate was found on the bike.

“I heard the roar of a bike and then a thud. I found two women lying unconscious on the side of the road and the biker was about 10 metres away, I immediately alerted the other morning walkers and called the police and an ambulance and rushed them to a hospital,” said M. Pavan, a morning walker from Macha Bolaram.

Balamoni and Radhika are close family friends, earlier they were neighbours they have been walking for the past two years at the Cantonment Park, Pavan said.

“Radhika suffered multiple fractures and deep injuries and died on the spot, while Balamani, who suffered critical internal injuries, was declared dead by the doctors at the hospital,” said Bolaram sub-inspector S. Durga Reddy.

Police have registered a case of 304 (A) and 337 of IPC causing death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against Nair and seized his bike.. “We will take him for questioning after he recovers after issuing him a notice,” the officer said. They are verifying about the vehicle with the Regional Transport Authority.
