CPI mouthpiece sneers at M Swaraj
The article came in response to Swaraj's recent Facebook post attacking CPI Ernakulam district secretary P Raju.
Thiruvananthapuram: The spat between CPM MLA M Swaraj and CPI hit a new low with party mouthpiece Janayugam coming out with a hard hitting article against the young Marxist leader. Without naming Swaraj, the article mocked at him saying that he had no sense of history. Just before the CPM MLA was born, CPI leader P K Vasudevan Nair was the chief minister of the state. The article came in response to Swaraj’s recent Facebook post attacking CPI Ernakulam district secretary P Raju.
The Janayugam article is full of offensive remarks against the CPM MLA. It reminded that Swaraj had made derogatory remarks even in the past. “Once he termed media persons as bastards,” it recalled. When the mediapersons sought the reaction of the then chief minister V S Achuthanandan about Swaraj’s remarks, the veteran said had publicly criticised him. The article said that it is better do to tomato farming in CPM leader’s clay head if he has still not acquired maturity at 40.
When contacted, Swaraj said that he came across the article but would not like react in the media. “I will respond through my Facebook post,” he added. But till the time of going to press, Swaraj had not reacted on Facebook. Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan took a dig at the CPI. “CPI had become very weak in states where it had strong presence once. But in Kerala, Tripura and West Bengal, the CPI has retained its base,” he said.
Kodiyeri indirectly meant that it was because of CPM that the CPI was still retaining its base in these sates. CPI sate secretary Kanam Rajendran said Swaraj started it all by making derogatory references against his party and leaders. “We cannot be blamed for what is happening. He started and we are only responding to him,” he added. Kanam said the current spat would not affect the functioning of LDF in Ernakulam district.
