KOZHIKODE: The KSRTC ran extra services  from Kozhikode for two days to  meet the rush of passengers following the train accident at Karukutty near Angamaly  on Sunday.   The passengers thronged the new KSRTC bus terminal here to catch the buses to  Ernakulam side even during the early hours of Monday, though a few trains had started  services. The Kozhikode KSRTC alone  ran  12 extra services to Ernakulam side.

KSRTC  zonal manager Safarulla said, “Sunday was  a busy day for KSTRC  and it was after a  long gap that we witnessed such rush at our new terminal  after it was launched.”   The transport minister had  announced the running of  72 special services after the accident.   “On Sunday alone we collected  Rs 3.5 lakh from the AC services,  double that of normal days. On Monday  we collected nearly '3 lakh from the AC services.  The non- AC buses generated Rs 4-5 lakh, while the precious highest record was less than Rs 2 lakh,” he pointed out.
