KOZHIKODE: The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) grew with the city since its introduction to it in 1972. Situated at Hazoor Kacheri in Mananchira, the group has reached out to nearly 1.18 crore people in the state as it celebrates its diamond jubilee. The LIC was born on September 1, 1956. The LIC Kozhikode maintains its first position in the state in business and its diamond jubilee motto is ‘insurance to everyone’, said senior divisional manager P. Radhakrishnan.
“We have collected the details of the people from all the five northern Kerala districts - Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram - from the electoral roll and this 61st year, we are planning to reach out to whoever, left behind," he said. "The diamond jubilee year will also sponsor 25 schools that come under 25 respective branches, providing them financial and infrastructure support.”
He added that the money-back policies were still popular among the public, and now the awareness was being created about the pension plans and scholarship for the schoolchildren from class nine to 12. Currently, LIC is serving 29.02 crores of individual policies and 12.09 group policies. Jeevan Anand and Jeevan Akshay policies are still the favourites. Since the inception of the golden jubilee scholarship scheme, 13,036 students have benefited till date. Each student gets Rs 10,000 per annum under the plan. On September 1, Mayor Thottathil Raveendran will inaugurate the celebrations at its Kozhikode office.
