HYDERABAD: The BJP state unit on Tuesday demanded resignation of health minister T. Harish Rao taking responsibility for the deaths of four women and others struggling for lives following negligent family planning operations at
Ibrahimpatnam. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao should sack Harish Rao
from the Cabinet, holding him responsible for the death of four women, the
BJP leaders demanded.

Speaking to reporters here at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan on Tuesday, BJP state secretary Dr S. Prakash Reddy and state official spokesperson J.
Sangappa said surgery of family planning in advanced technology had become a
minor procedure. But increased malpractices in the medical and health
department led by Harish Rao led to the death of women, they alleged.

BJP leaders demanded a high-level probe on the deaths of four women at
Ibrahimpatnam. Minister Harish Rao failed to provide basic infra in hospitals and habituated for commissions from the pharma companies, they alleged. Primary health centres, area hospitals and district hospitals lacked medicines, they said.

In TRS rule, the health system in the government sector was paralysed and
private hospitals ignored Arogyasri scheme, they said. Delay in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Telangana state adversely
affected poor families, they said. Harish Rao did not respond to the Ibrahimpatnam incident so far and it showed his inattentive attitude towards public health, they pointed out.
