Anantapur: Plug lapses in common examination pattern, students involved in copying
The system, however, opened gates for leakage of papers in advance due to poor measures by the authorities.
Anantapur: Common examination pattern for students of Classes VIII, IX and X witnessed ugly scenes after many schools and offices encouraged mass copying.
Question papers were also sold in markets. Students were encouraged towards ugly practices even at quarterly examinations. For instance, the English examination was held on Thursday. But the paper already leaked four days ago.
Students from many institutions were allegedly encouraged to collect question papers in advance to appear for the examinations.
Rumours spread like wild fire over auction of papers in the market. But, encouragement of students even for quarterly examinations raised many an eyebrow in many parts of the region.
The newly introduced pattern and system was to provide question papers common for all in high schools. The quarterly, half yearly question papers along with annual examinations have to be supplied by the government as part of the pattern.
The system, however, opened gates for leakage of papers in advance due to poor measures by the authorities.
“Teachers followed rules strictly in our school, but mass copying encouraged in another municipal school,” a Class X student from SKD high school in Anantapur recalled.
With the new system, marks of quarterly and half yearly examination would also be added for the final results. Mass copying and leakage of papers were reportedly witnessed in many parts of Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts.
A senior official from the education department opined the new system should be streamlined by rectifying such issues.
“Otherwise, students would depend on copying from beginning,” he observed.
