Bridge washed way third time
People are forced to travel around 30 kilometres extra on the Bichkunda-Shanthapur Gandi-Pitlam route to Banswada.
KAMAREDDY/NIZAMABAD: A makeshift bridge at Pedda Devada on Banswada-Bichkunda road in Kamareddy district that connects Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka states was washed away due to floodwater on Monday night.
It is the third time during the rainy season that the bridge was washed away. Transport between the three states has come to a grinding halt on this road.
People are forced to travel around 30 kilometres extra on the Bichkunda-Shanthapur Gandi-Pitlam route to Banswada.
Incomplete works over the bridge has turned a nightmare for people from the backward Jukkal constituency. The roads and buildings department had sanctioned `6 crore for construction of a new bridge last year.
Reportedly, the contractor had demolished the dilapidated bridge and started constructing the new one.
As an alternative, the makeshift bridge was constructed besides the site using pipes. Because of the floodwater from Koulasnala, the bridge was washed away.
