Hyderabad: Raids at 6 mega stores for flouting rules
There were also no fire safety mechanisms and parking inadequate.
Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on Tuesday evening, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation raided six shopping establishments in Mehdipatnam and booked them for lack of parking spaces, no fire-safety norms, footpath encroachment, violation of trade licenses and violating single-use plastic norms.
The establishments raided were Chennai Shopping Mall, Chennai Silks, RS Brothers, More Supermarket, Heritage and Ratnadeep even while customers were present.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle at the site of raids, Central Cone Commissioner Musharraf Ali, said: “We had issued notices to these organisations a month ago to renew their trade licenses. But when we checked them out today, they did not have the required permits. We also saw many of them using plastic bags to pack even the smallest items. This has happened despite us giving them multiple warnings.” He said one of the supermarkets was selling stale chicken. There were also no fire safety mechanisms and parking inadequate.
