Karimnagar: A Kisan Gramin Mela will be organised in Karimnagar for three days from November 3, the president of the Kisan Jagaran Association, Polasani Sugunakar Rao, said here on Thursday.

The events will be held from 11am to 7pm, all three days, at the premises of the Padmanayaka Kalyana Mandapam.

The idea is to create a platform for business opportunities for farmers and others in rural areas, including women, and introduce them to the innovative, advanced and modern technologies in the farming sector.

More than 300 stalls will be set up for the event, where various products from farmers and women of SHGs (self-help group) will be on display and sale.

There will be stalls of seed companies, solar products, drones, soil testing labs, farm technologies, fertilizers, pesticides, medicinal plants, plant breeding techniques etc. Some national, state-level and international entities would exhibit their products.

Success stories of farmers will be narrated at the event, apart from the holding of conferences and workshops with agricultural scientists to educate farmers on “how to produce crops to have more productivity and how to sell the produce for a high price.”

Sugunakar Rao said the mela will be highly useful to the women of SHGs to market their products and to the farmers involved in dairy, fisheries, sheep rearing and poultry sectors. Agricultural experts would attend the mela.

The event would be organised without any political link, he said.
