HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Saturday granted three weeks to the government pleader to obtain instructions on a writ plea challenging the orders of the commissioner of prohibition and excise, Karimnagar, in considering an application for shifting of bar and restaurant. Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was dealing with a writ petition filed by Peddireddy Raj Kumar Reddy.

The petitioner contended that the authorities had considered an application of a private respondent for shifting a bar and restaurant from Karimnagar town to Chintakunta Village of Kothapally mandal, Karimnagar district, contrary to the rules. The petitioner said that the same was contrary to the directions of the apex court to not grant permission for running a bar and restaurant near a national highway. He also pointed out that similar applications were earlier rejected by the authorities. The petitioner said Chintalkunta was not included within the municipality limits of Karimnagar town. The court adjourned the matter to November 18.
