One arrested for hurling country bombs at car
On Wednesday, a special team picked up the main accused, Dhanikachalam from a village near the TN - Andhra border.
Chennai: Four days after occupants of two cars - aides of slain don Sridhar - hurled country bombs at each other in neighbouring Kancheepuram district much to the horror of the public, a special team has arrested one of them near TN-Andhra border on Wednesday.
On Saturday, around 3 pm, Dinesh (35), who used to be the personal driver of Sridhar, was driving his car along the railway station road towards Kancheepuram town when the incident happened.
Three men in a black SUV trailed Dinesh’s car and intercepted his vehicle on the Kancheepuram-Vaiyaoor road and hurled the country bombs at the vehicle. The windshield and the window panes were damaged and Dinesh made evasive manoeuvres to escape the attack.
According to locals, Dinesh too hurled a bomb in defence. Dinesh, in an effort to escape from the gang, sped his vehicle and drove into the premises of the Chinna Kancheepuram police station.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the black SUV was found abandoned near Tiruttani Arakkonam road. Police recovered weapons from the vehicle.
On Wednesday, a special team picked up the main accused, Dhanikachalam from a village near the TN - Andhra border.
Investigations revealed that Dinesh and Dhanikachalam were aides of don Sridhar and a turf war between them led to the attack in public on Saturday.
Further investigations are on.
