Works in progress for upgrading Tirupati railway station
Development work to be completed by February 2025, says general manager
Nellore: The railways is gearing up for a major upgradation of the Tirupati railway station at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore, which will integrate the station complex from both sides of the temple town to provide a seamless experience to the passengers.
The station will undergo a complete makeover with a new entrance building coming up on the south side, while the existing entrance on the north side will be upgraded to provide a unified experience to rail passengers.
General Manager of South Central Railway Arun Kumar Jain said, “The station is being upgraded with the needs of rail passengers in mind for the next 40 years.”
He reviewed the progress of the work at Tirupati railway station. Speaking at the meeting, Anil Kumar Jain said that the development work for the station had been awarded to M/s. Varindera Constructions Limited, New Delhi on May 30, 2022 under EPC mode, targeted for completion within the next 33 months by February 2025.
Sharing the details of works completed and works in progress, he stated that the development work of the station was being accorded highest priority so that the best of infrastructural facilities can be provided for the rail passengers.
He said that once the new station complex would be completed, the rail passengers and pilgrims coming from all parts of the country would have a unique travel experience at the station, with the best of modern passenger facilities.
