Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) is launching a new initiative – Leading towards Next Age Programmes.

"Investing in skills development is strategic allocation of resources that transcends the immediate need for employment. It is an investment in the fundamental fabric of our state's future," AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath underlined.

He maintained that “Leading towards Next Age Programme” is an important step for a sustainable economic development in future, wherein our youth not only find jobs but also create opportunities, promoting a dynamic ecosystem of innovation and advancement.

Principal secretary (Skills Development and Training) S. Suresh Kumar said this project has the potential to revolutionise the state's talent development environment, addressing the perennial shortage of skills in the Indian labour market.

As part of this visionary programme, AP government envisages to bridge the gap between industry demands and workforce skills, thus positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in the rapidly evolving landscape of skills development and employment.

Suresh Kumar expressed optimism that this strategic approach will create better placement opportunities for the unemployed, as they will be imparted job-specific skills.

The senior official pointed out that the Department of Skills Development and Training (SD&T), which coordinates numerous wings, is giving long-term and short-term vocational and technical training to a varied pool of users. The department has so far trained 14,42,134 individuals and placed 3,57,334 of them in 98 career roles across 20 different industries.

“Leading towards Next Age Programmes initiative will materialise soon and be a boon to youth,” Suresh Kumar added.
